Richmond NewsThere is a Board meeting of the Times Ink! Wednesday, July 12 at 7 pm at the Richmond Free Library.

There are critical issues to discuss that will affect the future of the paper.

Local papers are very important to the community. They keep us informed about local happenings and local board meetings. Please help keep the Times Ink going and attend this board meeting

The future of community information is at stake folks.

Show your support or voice your needs... either way, you'll be helping by keeping civicism alive and well.

I attended this meeting along with Marie Thomas, Bryan Agran and the devoted Times Ink Board and other people who help publish the paper.

The Times Ink is a very important part of our communities. Where else can you find their grassroots kind of information?

Their primary source of revenue is ads and one of their greatest challenges is increasing ad sales. I notice there are are several "anchor" businesses in downtown Richmond that DO NOT advertise in The Times Ink, but they DO advertise in media in other towns.

I wonder why these anchor businesses think that local residents DO NOT need to be cultivated through local marketing?

The Times Ink is looking for an ad sales rep. I believe it pays $200 per issue plus commission on new ad sales. If you are looking for a way to help your community this is a great opportunity to contribute. No sales experience necessary. Contact Heidi Racht, 434-2690 or email <timesink@gmavt.net>.

Times Ink Board Meeting

For those who don't remember the start of the Times Ink.... The newspaper was formed as a non-profit, educational endeavor by a group of people who thought that the citizens of Richmond (and later Huntington) needed an accurate source of information about happenings in town. Not everyone can go to board meetings, so the Times Ink! could give people information about what was happening with government boards, the schools and other community activities.

There have been many people involved over the years. Just ask around.......

The bottom line is that this is a community newspaper. It is the only way for many peole to learn what is happening in the community. The Free Press and commercial television just doesn't do any in-depth coverage of town events.

If you feel that you get enough information from watching TV, reading bulletin boards, or listening to gossip on the street corner, then you don't have to do anything,

If you feel the Times Ink is not living up to it';s role in the community - then let the board and the editors know and then offer to help provide help by reporting on town committees or following up on news stories or by finding more advertisers. You can also make a financial contribution which can be tax-deductible.

This is our paper and we need to work to make it serve our needs. This takes people and effort.

There are so many people involved in community service in our towns. Nearly everyone I know is involved in some community endeavor.

But - there are new people moving in everry day. Working for the paper and attending board meetings is a great way to find out how the town works and where your tax dollars are going.

It's your turn!
