Greater Burlington YMCA
Chittenden East Edition
September / October 2006
Did you know that the Greater Burlington YMCA runs afterschool programs in all the elementary and middle schools in Chittenden East?
The YMCA mission is about building strong kids, strong families and strong communities. We do this everyday by serving the families of Chittenden East in our quality childcare programs. Last year, the YMCA began an outreach program to strengthen our relationship in Richmond by organizing family events such as Movie Nights and Family Games at RES with the Richmond Community Partnership. This year we will be holding more community events such as Movie Nights, Family Games, Gym Nights, Kids Night Out and Enrichment classes in other Chittenden East schools as well. More details will follow in upcoming issues of your local paper, flyers, as well as your local PTO newsletter. Here’s what’s happening in mid - October in Richmond:
Thursday, September 28: Food Drive at RES Open House. The Live Y’ers program will be collecting food and or money donations for the Vermont Food Bank, and the Chittenden County Humane Society. Working together, we can support those in need of help. Please bring a canned food item for our two legged and four legged animals, or some spare change, every little bit helps. Look for us at the front door. For more information please contact Michelle at 802-350-2254, or MCunning79@yahoo.com
Thursday, October 12: Lights On Celebration at RES from 3-5. Lights On is a nationwide celebration of afterschool programs. The Richmond Live Y’ers will be hosting an open house that afternoon in the school cafeteria with games, activities, and snacks to show the Richmond community what an important role we play in their children’s lives. Please come show your support for your local afterschool program. For more information please contact Michelle at 802-350-2254, or MCunning79@yahoo.com.
