Teachers on STRIKE

Schools are closed today in Bolton, Huntington, Jericho, Richmond and Underhill. Classes and all extracurricular activities for nearly 3,000 students have been canceled indefinitely until the strike is resolved.

A press release by the Bargaining Committee of the Chittenden East School District states:

"Based on the Union's latest offer one thing should be clear. The Union's refusal to have teachers pay a fair share of health insurance costs is the sole reason for this strike."

The nine schools in the Chittenden East Supervisory Union will be closed today and for further notice until a settlement is reached All extracurricular activities within the district, including interscholastic athletics, are postponed. The school buildings will not be available for any school or community events.
