At approximately 6:00 pm, a violent thunderstorm tore through Richmond and the surrounding areas. Damage was minimal but many went without power.
The lights briefly flickered int he center of town as thunder rumbled through the region. Patrons at The Bridge Street Grill reported only a moment of tension as the lights flickered twice, then stayed on.
A party of four found themselves trapped indoors as the rain pounded pavement, automobiles, and rooflines alike. One of them was overheard saying, "Well, this changes our plans... but I did want to eat out tonight anyway."
Driving out of town, it became apparent that the storm did slightly more damaged as properties along the Richmond-Huntington road and Richmond Hinesburg roads suffered from downed limbs.
Power outages were also reported throughout other parts of Richmond, Hinesburg, and Huntington. As of 9:10pm, most of the areas lights were back on.
