Full Day Kindergarten

Monday, March 06 2006 @ 08:02 PM EST
Contributed by: Bryan

Schools & EducationNotice to Richmond residents:

Supposedly, the vote for the full day of kindergarten is scheduled for a floor vote at 9 am. This means that many will not be able to vote after their work as planned.

If this issue is important to you and were caught unaware, use your voice and speak up. It is getting harder to participate in town meetings since businesses do not tend to give the time off anymore. It is even harder when you are a working parent.

My husband and I are new to Richmond and we do not get time off for Town Meeting from our jobs. I would be happy to participate, I think it is an important tradition, however, it is not easy for me to miss work. I would like to voice an opinion that Town Meeting should be held in the evening. Who would you recommend speaking to regarding Town Meeting?

Also, could you explain if there are some issues that are voted on in the evening separate from the proper Town Meeting? I don't understand the process.

Thanks for your insight.

A new resident.
