Three Richmond residents, John Lentine, Mike Wenner, and Kathy Purdy (that's me!!) will be flying to San Francisco this fall to run in the San Francisco Nike marathon on Oct 23.

We are running as part of 'Team in Training', the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s signature fundraising campaign that features people who have been blessed with good health doing endurance events that symbolize the fight of those who have been affected by these diseases. We will be running in honor of two local children with Leukemia.

In additional to running the marathon, we are trying to raise money for the VT chapter of the Society. Our local chapter gave financial aid to over 200 VT patients last year and also funds a researcher at UVM. That's over $100,000 yearly! They are available to serve anyone in Vermont who is diagnosed with a blood cancer.

We are asking for donations. Any donation is greatly appreciated and, whatever you can donate, will make a difference. It is likely that you can think of someone that has been affected by one of these diseases in some way. This is your opportunity to honor and help them.

Donations can be made on-line at:
