Candlelight Vigil

Wednesday, August 17 2005 @ 10:25 PM EDT
Contributed by: Bryan

Politics A Candlelight Vigil took place in the Volunteer Green at approximately 7:30 pm on August 17th.

The sign says it all: "Save Americans - Bring Our Troops Home."

The participants sang a becautiful rendition of Amazing Grace. A quiet and soulful expression of non-violent demonstration, here in the town of Richmond.

It's sad that this gets interpreted as a political event. One would think it logical to gather in recognition of peace during a time in which our country is shooting people and in turn getting shot (to put it simply). Unfortunately, it IS political, because there are those few who benefit from war, and in turn spin the truth to convince others that this is a war worth fighting.

You've got a valid point.

Peace, should be a standard we live by, not a category. Politics was the best choice for "categorizing" this, but by no means a statement of my own.

Thanks for the thoughts on the subject.
